Introduction to Music Theory and Sight Singing Level 1
Mondays 6:00 – 7:00pm
Pitch, rhythm, scales, intervals, chords, and harmony are fundamental concepts every musician needs to master. Introduction to Music Theory and Sight Singing Level 1 will set you on your way. Students will be able to read simple rhythmic combinations with whole, half, quarter, and eight notes; and sight-sing scales and simple exercises on major and minor keys.
- Session: 10 weeks (March 26 – May 31, 2018)
- Class Size: A minimum of 5 students required to run class.
- More Information: Tuition is due on or before the first day of class. When 2 or more family members register for the class, the total cost can be prorated to 2 payments throughout the 10-week session.

About the Instructor: Cindy Candelaria-Pieve
Puerto Rican Soprano, Cindy Candelaria-Pieve graduated from the University of Puerto Rico (Secondary Music Education BA) and Hunter College (Voice Performance MA) and obtained her first formal vocal instruction from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music (CMPR.) She played the following fully staged roles for the CMPR and Hunter College Opera Workshops: Gertrude in Hansel Und Gretel (E. Humperdinck) Mrs. Grose in The Turn of the Screw (B. Britten ), Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors (G.C. Menotti, on a Spanish translation by Prof. Ilca López) and Cathleen in Riders to the Sea (R. Vaughan Williams); her oratorio solo performances include Handel’s Israel in Egypt and Fauré’s Requiem. She has collaborated in opera chorus and small roles with the PR Opera Company and the PR Symphonic Orchestra, and has performed as recitalist for Baroque Chamber Orchestra Mezza Di Voce (San Juan, PR) in several Music for all Seasons series (Cincinnati, OH) and the Museum of the City of New York.
