The Twi-Lites is a sextet of jazz-pop musicians from different musical disciplines united around the principle of playing a flexible repertoire of hits, rarities, and originals with a foot in jazz, pop, R&B, folk, and rock with strong melodies, harmonies, and economical arrangements.
The band originated in 2017 around drummer Michael DiMario, keyboardist/guitarist/ songwriter Bruce Martin, multi-instrumentalist Amy Dennison, bassist Bill Reid, lead guitarist Greg Sayles, and singer Karie-Lee Sutherland, developing a repertoire of some 70 songs, including covers from the Great American Songbook (Gershwin, Cole Porter, etc.), and pop songs from the late 20th century, including Britpop, Motown, folk-rock (Dylan, Rolling Stones) early New Wave (Blondie, Go-Gos) and 20th-century-styled originals by Bruce. Since then, drummer Kevin Marsh has replaced co-founder DiMario. The band has principally appeared in festival-style and music series settings, and they pride themselves on performing classics with a twist.
