About the Band: Mike Wade and the Nasty Nati Brass Band

The Nasty Nati Brass Band (NNBB) came into existence in 2012. Led by Trumpeter Mike Wade the band consist of a 9-member ensemble of brass, saxophones and drums. (2 Trumpets,2 Trombones, 2 Saxophones, Tuba, Drummer, Percussionist)

The band has performed at several venues and events such as the Columbus Jazz Festival, the City of Forest Park Jazz in the Park and the Cincinnati Jazz and BBQ festival, NNBB has performed in venues such as the Greenwich in Cincinnati, the Bop Stop in Cleveland Oh, BluJazz in Akron OH and Blues Alley in Washington DC.

Many of the songs we cover are Jazz, Blues, R&B and Rock where we rearrange the music and orchestrate to give it our own Nasty Nati style. The Nasty Nati Brass Band’s inspiration is from a long tradition of Brass Bands from New Orleans as well as marching bands from historically Black colleges and RB funk Bands such as Earth Wind and Fire, Chuck Brown and others. Expect the music to have flavors of, Latin America, Africa, the Caribbean, the Balkans, and a steady dose of R&B, Rock and Roll and good old soul.  And we can play many traditional New Orleans Brass Band music as well as many new modern Brass Band music and of course Spirituals and Hymns for weddings and funerals.

See the entire Wednesdays in the Woods lineup!
