Thinking outside the tube: Upcycled Instrument making
A special time with your grandmother or grandfather having fun and learning something new: how to build musical instruments! In this workshop we will be working with tubes of all sizes – from a few inches to some six feet tubes. The centerpiece of your work will be a rainstick. Prior to the workshop you will be emailed detailed information about parking, what to wear and what to bring.
*Please note: Due to some of the steps in building these instruments, we must have only one child per grandparent. If a grandparent cannot participate, the child can attend with a relative or parent. Each pair must bring their own hammer to the workshop.
Health & Safety Measures: All CCAC Staff, Teachers, and Participants must follow CCAC’s Covid-19 Preparedness Measures and Requirements for Participation when attending class in-person.
Amy has been creating instruments out of discarded scraps and remnants, plastic products, along with everyday objects and trash for over 30 years. The process is great for the environment, while encouraging creativity and critical thinking. But most of all, it’s really fun and having your grandchild or grandparent working with you is double the fun!
