A four-week crash course in stand-up, improv, and sketch comedy writing. Get the basics that will give you the tools to continue this adventure. Each week a different aspect will be covered, followed by a comprehensive review of all three forms. Get ready to laugh and have fun. Short assignments for the sketch and stand-up portions will be part of the process. (Possible webinar, to take place after the fact, can be provided, based on feasibility/interest).

About the Instructor: Scott Levy
Scott Levy is a faculty member at Chicago’s legendary Second City Training Center, where alums include Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Amber Ruffin, John Belushi, Gilda Radner, and many more. It is at this famed institution where he teachers improv, sketch-comedy writing, stand-up, and storytelling. He is a multiply published short story writer and comedic essayist. A former Cincinnatian, Scott was a founding member of the popular Monkeytime Comedy Troupe (which toured college campuses and saw syndication on N.P.R.), and a music-host on the late, lamented WNKU. He was a founding member of the acclaimed Chicago satire The Best Church Of God (named Best Sketch Comedy Revue by The Chicago Reader in 2010). In his hometown, Scott has visited to teach writing and improv workshops at The Clifton Cultural Arts Center, McNicholas High School and Women Writing For A Change.
