Wednesdays, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Students will learn how to deconstruct, alter, and reconstruct an existing garment using different up-cycling techniques. In the first class, we’ll learn deconstruction by cutting up a garment and adding paint, exploring how to alter and change clothes without sewing. In the second class, students will learn embroidery as a method to create patches and alter clothes. In the last two classes, we’ll combine these skills and learn other sewing skills to help the participant design and create their own garment.
Students should bring old clothing they’d like to upcycle in class; additional garments and upcycling materials will be provided.
