Jeremy Collins
Jeremy is an award-winning classical guitarist and composer from Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition to being a finalist and prizewinner in the 2011 Guitar Foundation of America International Guitar Competition, he has received first prizes at the “Classical Minds” Festival Guitar Competition; the Appalachian State Guitar Fest Solo Competition; the East Carolina University Solo Guitar Competition; the Rantucci Guitar Competition; the Dominguez Hills Solo Competition; the ASTA “Aaron Green” Guitar Competition; the Columbus State University Guitar Symposium Competition; and the University of Louisville Guitar Competition.

Since his invitation to perform on NPR’s “From the Top” national radio program in Cincinnati at the age of 16, he has performed solo and chamber recitals extensively throughout the US, including performances with the Blue-Ash Montgomery Symphony, the Starling Chamber Orchestra, the Masterworks Festival Orchestra, the Cleveland Institute of Music Opera Dept., and the Cincinnati Vocal Arts Ensemble.

Jeremy began his studies on the guitar at age 13 with Rodney Stucky at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) preparatory program. He went on to study with Grammy award-winning guitarists Jason Vieaux, at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and William Kanengiser, at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.

Since beginning to compose for the guitar at the age of 14, his solo compositions and arrangements have become known for their unique tunings which have enabled him to create a distinct new compositional voice. His debut recording, Winter Dream, was released in December 2011, and features nine original compositions for solo guitar, each in alternate tunings.

In addition to performing and composing, Jeremy is a dedicated teacher, having taught masterclasses for the Cincinnati Guitar Society, the CCM Guitar Workshop, the Houston Guitar Guild, and the Interlochen Arts Academy, where he was invited to return as guitar instructor for the Interlochen Arts Camp during the summer of 2013. He maintains a busy teaching studio in Cincinnati where he serves on the faculty at the CCM preparatory department, the Indian Springs Academy of Music, and the Toedtman School of Music. He performs on a 2002 double-top guitar by Gernot Wagner.
