New Woman: A juried art exhibition

As part of the signature programming of the Elizabeth Nourse Gallery in the Clifton Cultural Art Center’s brand new, 3-story, 18,000 sq. ft. arts and cultural center, CCAC is issuing a call-to-artists for the second edition of “New Woman,” a juried group exhibition & accompanying residency for one selected artist. CCAC’s signature first-floor gallery, named for Elizabeth Nourse (one of the earliest women artists to achieve widespread recognition and make a living as a professional painter) aims to follow Nourse’s tradition, showcasing the artwork of women artists of Cincinnati and beyond, including through the New Woman exhibition and residency. “New Woman” was a title bestowed on Nourse and her contemporaries, describing the different and changing role within the patriarchal society that Nourse encountered. More than a century later, CCAC believes it is still of critical importance to continue to uplift the voices of emerging women artists – including those whose personal identity intersects with other groups who have been historically marginalized such as members of the LGBTQIA and BIPOC communities – to provide them a platform and accessible professional development. One winning artist will be selected from the group show for the New Woman Residency at CCAC.

Eligibility: Open to all women artists living or working within the Greater Cincinnati area; all fine arts media accepted.
