International Folk Dancing

Thursdays, 7:15 – 9:15 pm

A group of friendly folks who dance for fun. Most dances are circle and line dances. No partners or costumes are needed. Although we do kick up our heels sometimes, many dances are easy. This is dancing for non-dancers. We dance traditional folk dances from all over the world. A majority of the dances we know are from the Balkan and Middle East regions. New dancers are encouraged to come early as all of the dances will be taught for them during the first hour. After 8:15 p.m. most dances are done without teaching but all are still encouraged to join in. Children are welcome with an adult if they come to dance. There is no place for the children to play. The exotic, recorded music is very unusual and half the fun.

Good for ages 18+

Many folks have been dancing for decades and it could be Edith, Kate, Doug or Wilson who teaches any individual dance. Dances have been collected from workshops and dancing with groups all over the country. We are open, friendly and democratic, and most are willing to step up and keep the group going.

No need, just show up!

When visiting CCAC by car, please use the shared lot directly behind our building, which can be accessed off of Hosea Ave. The Clifton United Methodist Church’s lot, accessible off of Senator Pl, may be used as overflow and is connected via a few stairs connecting the two lots. We ask that you only use these lots while visiting CCAC or Dewey’s Pizza and move your vehicle before visiting any other locations around the Ludlow Business district.

If these lots are full, you may park along the street in many areas around our building. There are also two paid public lots that can be accessed via Ludlow or Howell Ave and are about a five-minute walk away.
