Painting With the Cycle of the Moon: A Creative Lunar and Human Exploration

Ages 21 – 100+

Saturdays, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

Join Annie Melzer, environmental anthropologist, artist-creative, storyteller, yogi, and breathworker as we interact individually and community with explorations of our human cross-cultural connections to our earth’s moon and to the lunar cycle. With canvas, acrylic paint, water, a few paintbrushes, journal, and pen, we will shift our energy and awaken our connections to the 13-moon lunar cycle.

Humans across time and space have embraced ritual celebrations, planting cycles, harvest gatherings, and meaningful celebrations that have all been aligned with the lunar calendar throughout human history and into the contemporary. During this 4-week series, we will follow one lunar cycle from the full moon through the first quarter. We will meet online for 4 creative 90-minute sessions where we journal, paint, and witness each other (as interested) in community together. Optional weekly writing prompts and cross-cultural lunar inspirations will also be provided during each week to heighten individual connectivity to the lunar movement and cycle. Cross-cultural inspiration around the globe as to the importance of the lunar cycle to diverse indigenous cultures of the world will be explored.

This lunar cycle cohort will also have a private online platform where they may post insights, imagery, and journaling to build a community of connectivity as we move through a lunar cycle together. No painting and journaling skills, practice or experience needed nor necessary! All humans are welcome to join this lunar exploratory cohort!
