For the third consecutive year, the Art Academy of Cincinnati’s Office of Community Education will offer its popular Camp Art Academy summer art program at the Clifton School on the grounds of CCAC.

Camp Art Academy is a terrific experience for kids interested in making visual art and learning about art and artists. This year’s Camp, for kids 5 through 12, will run June 9 through July 25.Information on Camp Art Academy fees, dates, discounts, and financial assistance are available at http://www.artacademy.edu/CE_CampAAC.html.

Campers may attend morning-only, afternoon-only, or full-day classes and the Camp is segmented into six one-week themes, so children may attend any or all six weeks of Camp – and Campers can choose to attend morning-only, afternoon-only, or full-day classes.

The Camp Art Academy experience also includes field trips and visiting artists, t-shirts and tote bags, and best of all, the opportunity to meet and work with fellow artists from all over the area.

All the classes of Camp Art Academy are based on hands-on learning and creativity. Instructors are professional artists and/or art educators and many classroom assistants are Art Academy of Cincinnati undergraduates.

This year’s camp opens with “Looking Through Artist’s Eyes,” which will introduce and review drawing, painting and sculpture techniques emphasizing skills of observation. Campers will also see how other artists have made and recorded observations. Subsequent weeks include “Look Under the Sea”, “Look at Flora and Fauna”, “Look at Buildings” and the annual “Art Around the World” week – this year focusing on Australia. Camp closes with the very popular “Drawing and Sculpting Cartoons and Comics” week.

CCAC is excited for children and parents alike to have this opportunity to experience arts programming in the Clifton School, giving the community a preview of the types of programs that will be offered by CCAC and its partners, which include the Art Academy’s Office of Community Education.
