generations

Clifton Cultural Arts Center presents “Generations,” an open-call photography exhibition that investigates the polyvalent ways in which generations are both markers of time and also vessels that carry the currents of social ideas and cultural shifts.  There are generations of artists, ideas, and technologies. This exhibition also offers the opportunity to speculate and project into future generations, envisioning the world through the lenses of emerging issues like sustainability and social progress. Embracing the themes of “Backstories” as part of the 2024 FotoFocus biennial, “Generations” uniquely intertwines past, present, and future through the lens of photography. Our call is open to artists of all career levels and diverse photographic styles. We encourage artists to embrace creativity and explore a wide array of subjects, from intimate family portraits to vibrant cultural traditions to sweeping societal transformations and beyond.  This exhibition will illuminate the interconnected histories of our communities in CCAC’s new Elizabeth Nourse gallery.

Artists will not be required to provide physical versions of their accepted artwork. Images will be printed (no larger than 12×18), matted, and framed by CCAC at CCAC’s expense. All submitted photographs are required to be high-res.

All two-dimensional photographic processes are welcome. The exhibition will be juried by CCAC staff & board. Artists may choose whether to have the print listed as Not for Sale, or CCAC will process print sales at a flat rate of $150, of which artists will receive $100.
