Grades K-2
Tuesdays, 2:45 – 3:45 p.m.
In order to reduce fabric waste, students will first learn about the harmful effects of fast fashion. Each child will be asked to bring in an old t-shirt to turn into a reusable tote/grocery bag, which will involve some light sewing and/or creative knot-tying. Next, they will craft their own Native American Shaman-inspired medicine bags out of scrap leather and leather cord. They will explore cutting, stitching, ripping, and pinning to their heart’s content, and will end by creating a unique design of their own choosing with leftover fabric and the techniques they’ve picked up over the four-week class. Preregistration by December 27, 2021 required.
